@Solarphile, Andrew:

You both have valid points.

The main message to send home is this:

Solutions isolated at the micro scale, or the macro scale, are useless if there is no collaboration or innovation on BOTH ends.

Solarphile is right - plugging in our cars is only a short-term solution, if that, if we are simply transferring emissions to a coal-fired plant somewhere.

We need both: large scale infrastructure innovation, and small scale solutions for everyday life!

@Solarphile this is so much not the entire truth- what about the wind mils producing electricity or the new so called green energy? They tend to benefit more preserving the air than damage with the pollution which occurred while they were created....

Excellent video! What about electric vehicles? They may burn clean, but you do have to charge them, typically by plugging them in--- to your electrical outlet! And where does that electricity come from?

And what about hydrogen fuel cells? Over their life cycle, they contribute more to our carbon footprint than they save.

We have a two-fold plan to end U.S. dependence on fossil fuels. This plan consists of a dual system: The Interim System, and The Permanent System. The Interim System will keep the country running at an estimated .99-$1.30 in fuel costs. This initial step will yield gasoline and diesel fuels for any residual use during the interim. The Permanent System will consist of a new motor which will enable the country to realize a 94% drop in fuel cost, while generating the same amount of power. For example, once this system is in place, a family of four will be able to travel from New York City to Los Angeles,California for approximately $80. This plan will utilize 100% American resources. The concept fundamental to the plan totally excludes the use of batteries, solar and wind power, as well as geo-thermal sources. There will therefore be no depletion of corn crops; nor will hydrogen be employed. The central idea to this System is completely new and uniquely fitted to our current situation. We will need funds for both Concept and Physical Patents, and the first Prototype of the motor.

I am in the process of building my own right now - I'll let you guys know how it goes.

As far as the exact systems you see in the vid: I believe they are from Eastern Canada, but I'll double check that and make sure.

Thanks for the links - cool stuff on both blogs, and I'll be checking back =)

That is very cool. We're in PV, but I love solar thermal systems and I love home-brew hacks. Perfect mix of the two. (We played around with a low temp home brew solar thermal steam turbine a few years ago.)

Dear Mr. Pickens,
I just viewed your commercial on cnn, here in the desert region of Palm Springs.
I am a 58 year old man , who has been active in
out-reach for change, for alternative sources of
fossil fuel, since I went to the World's Fair in NYC, in 1964, and saw Ford's tubine engine
prototype; then again, in 1973, as a victim of the
oil embargo, which caused millions of Americans to wait on lines, at 5am. , for gas , with
oil tankers waiting off the coast of New England
to gain port of entry.
America has had over 40 years to re-tool its auto-
motive industry to suit to changing needs of this
magnificent country, however, the incestuous lust for petro and the derived profits, has turned this country and its government into heartless,
blood-thirsty animals, with NO concern for the
people who placed them in control in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish to be an active part of whatever you do, in
respect to the future of this country's energy solution!
Please, please contact me , through whatever
facility is at your disposal, so I might participate
in some small way , to impact your cause.

with deep gratitude,
